The Information reported late in Tuesday's session that Apple (NASDAQ:) is cutting production of its iPhone 14 Plus only two weeks after its debut.

Citing two people familiar with the matter, the publication wrote that Apple told at least one manufacturer in China to stop iPhone 14 Plus components immediately while its buyers reevaluate demand for the latest iPhone offering.

The news comes a few weeks after reports that the tech giant ditched its iPhone production increase after an anticipated surge in demand failed to come to fruition. Bloomberg reported that Apple told suppliers to reduce its production increase efforts for the iPhone 14 product family by 6 million units.

Apple has positioned the iPhone 14 Plus as cheaper than its more expensive iPhone Pro models but with a large screen.

The Information added that its sources told them two other Apple suppliers in China that depend on the parts and make them into larger modules are cutting production by 70% and 90%, respectively.
